They Call Me Katie

The Reason: With a minor in Women's Studies and a growing attachment to my dark brown locks, I've always hid my obsession with Barbie, along with the fact that Legally Blonde is one of my all-time favorite flicks. As I grew older, I realized my fascination with these blondes stemmed from my fascination with rare and shockingly strong women: the female characters who emerged from darkness and captured audiences with their confidence, still never hiding from their femininity. Future Black Card Wives is an ode to women like these, women like us.

The Name: While sitting at lunch with coworkers in an NYC cafe, we began gabbing over our entry-level positions, with our entry-level pay. On the inside, Blair was obsessing over her latest crush. Chris was detailing his recent beaus. Marie, who couldn't make the midday gossip sesh, was stuck in the office speaking with a new prospect. None of us knew the exact road to happiness, but we knew we wanted everything. "We're the Future Black Card Wives of America!" I exclaimed. "All we want is everything." A blog had been born.

The Story: My love for fashion came from my beautiful grandmother, whose pieces you will see me photograph and write about on the regular. My desire to create beautiful things was inherited from my beloved mother, who was sewing us matching outfits around the same time I was working on my application to Barbie University. My father and grandfather are the ones who taught me to dream. I graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and spent a portion of my college years tanning on Coogee Beach in Australia and then working my tail off at a Public Relations firm in Washington, DC. I've lived in London and New York and racked up as many sky miles as possible. Annapolis, Sydney, Florence, Copenhagen and New York City all influence my style.

I can't help myself. I'm everywhere. Come on girls, let's go for a ride!
